Rise Series: Poem 1
Steam quietly rose on the warm puddles
Kicking through the dust
She was young and quick
Alone in the open, rock crumbled beneath her feet
Lush with pine in the clear blue
She looked up at the lofty trees
Whose roots she tripped among
As they stood strong in time and space
Faces had passed and fires withered
They watched and whispered
Singing in the sun when the clouds cleared
She was another seeking life, finding it upon that mountain
In the clearing there was chaos
Like a melody that brushed through the wings of the spring leaves
Green, pink and yellow
Light danced in the crisp, cool wind at the peak
She drew a long, full breath
Her song released once trouble, now beauty
The trees leaned in and brushed her off of her feet
She rose effortlessly to dance among the clouds
